And repeat the same action on the anther side of the home door.

To drill a 54-mil circle through the home door, drill first on 1 side and then the another. Don’t just drill from 1 side and will have an ugly breakout or break through. And before drilling the hole, don’t forget to place on your personal protection tools. Here’s a 25-mil spade bit to drill an intersecting hole in the edge of the home door. Next, mark the edge of the faceplate hence that you can home it in the door.

Now, chisel out the housing to the in depth of the faceplate and just chisel around the perimeter first. Just mark the one center point for the screws with the top tip of your spade bit so that the screws will start perfectly and then just rough out the center of the cut out for the bolt with the spade bit and now square it off with a chisel. Now screw the strike plate tightly to the jamb fitting it into the housing, driving it in not totally.
